Best New Artists of 2009: Not a Collection of Haikus

Because I am not as creative as Chris Tracy, this list is gonna be a bit more straightforward and traditional in format.  I do apologize…
That being said, here are the 10 best new artists of 2009.  Here’s hoping they can be as creative/remain together in 2010.
10. Neon Indian
Equal parts video game arcade, acid trip, and hazy summer afternoon, the Texas group’s first album Psychic Chasms is as exuberant a musical experience as you’re likely to hear all year. And beyond their own music, they’ve produced some great remixes as well …

Surf’s Up: An Interview with The Drums

The Drums, originally from central Florida, hearken back to the days of surf and sun with their incessantly catchy brand of jangle pop and 50’s rock. Their debut EP “Summertime!” landed firmly in WCWM’s A-list upon its release, and beyond campus the band has been burning up the ears of critics worldwide. Recently, the BBC shortlisted the band as one of the top 15 bands to watch in 2010, while NME declared them “New York’s coolest new band.” Lead singer Jonathan Pierce was courteous enough to take some time to answer a few questions while the band finishes their debut LP for 2010.
